Hi, I’m Katie - a bookkeeper that specializes in small to medium sized businesses including sole proprietors, incorporations and non-profits. My clients include food trucks, book publishers, graphic designers, web designers, geoscientists, restaurants, independent retailers, research institutes, music centres and more.
I like taking the stress and dread out of the accounts so that my clients can get back to what they want to do and what they are passionate about. I try to approach bookkeeping in a fresh, modern, automated, relaxed way that is clear and clean so that everyone can breath easy. I started working as a bookkeeper in 2007 using Excel and Sage 50 (Simply Accounting). I found that the manual side of those systems were intensive and complicated - I wanted something streamlined! I became certificated as a Xero advisor in 2013 and quickly started to work with different cloud-based accounting software, such as Quickbooks Online, 17 Hats and Wave. Then I added some Point of Sale software and payroll services to the menu and was able to integrate whole systems into businesses. It is exciting to see the relief people have when they realize that they won’t be shuffling through receipts and entering them in one by one anymore. I have creative, beautiful clients and a creative, beautiful way of looking at bookkeeping. |

Do I still need an accountant?I can provide all year end documents that your accountant will need, all HST remittances, WCB remittances, payroll remittances, ROEs and T4s. You will only need an accountant for your year end tax filing.
How often do I see you?This depends. Some clients I see once every two weeks, others once every month or two. Some clients live out of Canada or travel for
work so those clients I meet with on Skype when needed. My services can be face-to-face, virtual or a combination of both. How do I pay?You can pay with cheque or e-transfer. I invoice at the end of each month.
Is cloud-based accounting secure?Cloud-based accounting has the same level of security as online banking. Plus, the added bonus of keeping your information safe in the event your laptop is stolen, your computer crashes or in the event of a natural disaster. How does cloud accounting save me time?With cloud-based bookkeeping systems you are able to get a current picture of your finances in real-time. Manual entry is limited, which saves time and money. Costly upgrades, maintenance and backing up your files are no longer issues. They are completed automatically in the cloud; nothing to install or back up.
Do I have to pay for cloud accounting on top of your fee?Depending on the accounting software you choose you would pay between $0/month (that’s right - free for Wave Accounting) and $40 USD / month. There are no software packages to buy or monthly/yearly software updates. They are included in the software subscription fee.
Do you set my cloud accounting up for me?Yes, I set it all up and roll with it from there.
Can you recommend an accountant?Yes, if you need an accountant I am happy to recommend.
